Jeweler - Silver wire wrap, tumbled gemstones, beach glass
After returning from a "rock hound" trip in 2008, I became fascinated by turning raw "rocks" into semiprecious gemstones. So I bought a rock tumbler and learned to tumble, grind and polish my treasures. Then I took classes on wire wrapping. This uncovered a unique hidden talent that this retired banker never imagined he had. Oh, the tumblers run constantly now!
On many of my trips to the Caribbean and the Virginia Shore I collected sea glass from the beaches. When fortunate enough to find suitable pieces, I sorted my glass according to grade (there are four classifications of sea glass) then wrapped my entire collection. I have since added sea glass from Sicily, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Cayman Islands, Greece, Virginia, Florida, Massachusetts, Honduras, Belize and even Cuba! Each piece is very different from the others because in order to be called "genuine sea glass" it may not be altered from the way in which it was deposited onto the sand by the sea. All of my pieces are known to be genuine and not fabricated. Thereby, each piece of sea glass has a history of its own... if only we knew what it was.
Happy trails and pleasant journeys!
